What types of air ducts are used in ventilation systems?

Galvanized circular ducts and square ducts are most commonly used in ventilation systems, while ED plastic circular or square ducts are very popular in residential ventilation systems.

Circular ducting

Galvanized ventilation ducting is most often referred to as spiro ducting because it is spirally wound. Circular ducting is primarily intended for transporting air and extracting smoke and dust without chemical additives and impurities. The circular ducting is suitable for longer ventilation routes because it is resistant to internal pressure and also provides good resistance to deformation. It is also resistant to thermal expansion and contraction.

Another advantage is the low weight easy handling during installation. Ventilation circular ducting is also often used for exposed installation, for example in cafes, shops, or exhibition areas.

Circular ducting is manufactured in several material designs. It is available in galvanized steel Z275 (standard), stainless steel EN 1.4301 (AISI 304) and EN 1.4404 (AISI 316L), aluminum alloy 1050 A, special aluminum-zinc alloy AZ 185, magnesium ZM 310, and a polyester resin-based powder coating finish.

We supply Lindab Safe ductwork

Lindab Safe ventilation system

This high-quality ventilation system with a high tightness class and short installation time saves you time and money. And that's not all. Thanks to energy savings, you are also contributing to a sustainable future.

The Lindab Safe ventilation system includes a complete range of circular ducts, fittings, silencers, T-pieces / Y-pieces / X-pieces, reducers, bends, couplings, saddle and exhaust pieces, cap ends, etc. The system is based on a double-lip seal made of EPDM rubber. This seal allows for quick and easy installation of the system while ensuring its high D-class tightness. The Lindab Safe system is certified by the independent Eurovent testing laboratory. The Lindab Safe ventilation system is designed for industrial, commercial, and residential ventilation.

Made from special materials or with special surface finishes, the system can also be used in environments with extreme hygiene requirements, such as clean rooms, hospitals, food processing plants, or beverage production facilities.

What is the Safe system?

  • The Safe system is a circular ventilation duct system that allows for quick installation.
  • The Safe system has a high D-class airtightness rating, as proven by Eurovent certification.
  • The entire range is manufactured in dimensions according to the EN 1506 standard.
  • The system is based on a double-edged EPDM rubber seal. The seal, which can withstand even careless handling on site and is not sensitive to temperature changes, creates a very airtight ventilation system.

Advantages

  • Quick installation.
  • Modifications or complicated routing do not affect the high tightness.
  • Installation is carried out without the use of sealants or solvents.
  • Can be used in various environments.
  • The seal ensures the necessary tightness of joints up to a negative pressure of 5,000 Pa and a positive pressure of 3,000 Pa.
  • Withstands high pressure according to the specifications in the technical manuals.
  • Tightness class D certified by the independent Eurovent testing laboratory.
  • Saves energy.

Plastic ED ducts

The ED Plast plastic modular system is designed for ventilating smaller spaces in apartments, such as kitchens, bathrooms, toilets, and the like. The plastic ventilation duct system includes three circular duct diameters and three square duct dimensions, which can be used where space is limited, such as in suspended ceilings, spaces above kitchen units, bathrooms, toilets, etc.

Advantages

  • Easy connection, quick installation, low weight, aesthetic appearance
  • A wide range of individual elements allows for the creation of relatively complex distribution systems in small dimensions
  • Easy adjustment of duct length with a hand saw. Not subject to corrosion, ensuring a long service life
  • The system can also be used as a side branch of the main air distribution system

Types of plastic ducts and fittings

UK-PP - circular plastic ducts
UK-OSP - circular plastic bends, 45° or 90° angle
UK-PRO - circular plastic reducers
UK-SP - circular plastic internal connectors
UK-OBJP - circular plastic single-sided branches at a 90° angle
UP - square flat ducts
